Blue Chalcedony on White

These beads are beautiful - it's the glass. Holding them in your hands is magical - the energy incredible.
The temperature of the flame changes the color of the glass as it's laid on the white in strings as the molten glass rod is pulled thinner and thinner and wrapped around the bead.

These beads need to be kiln annealed before I sell them - I just had to share them.

LIMBO

Yes - I'm a little bit in limbo now. I plugged the heat in last night and it flipped the temporary wiring. So until Dave can get back here I'm in my original extension cord mode. ah well. soon.

Also, I've never used a kiln before so the directions to my new AIM kiln are like reading Chinese. PJ - from the bead club "Fire and Rain" has offered to help me out figuring out how to program and digital controller. I don't know the temperatures, soak time stuff - it's like a little unreachable country to me right now. But, all that will comes as time moves on.

In the meantime - I'm itching to make beads and get them out there for all to enjoy.

Went on a cleaning spree this morning and now - I'll be out looking for a new stool for the workbench (adjustable) and a couple more flourescents for the perfect lighting. So, until tomorrow - have a great day and enjoy every minute of it.

Latest on the Studio

Yesterday, completed wiring, hung the ventilation fan, layed the tile and grouted, hung some of the lighting and checking out the position of all for maximum exposure for light in detailing beads.

Letting adhesive on tile cure now for 3-4 days. Need to bring the ventilation system down to the table now so fumes are drawn away and up from the torch.

Looking good!

Studio

I know - but I'm so excited. Tomorrow my "Studio" will be ready for work! Picked up the "snow white" grout today and tomorrow it will be installed. Sold the "in the way tredmill" today so I also have room to dance in my studio in between beads!!! Love you all...keep in touch

Manuela Wutschke

My absolute favorite bead artist...living in Germany. I can't wait to get up in the morning and see the newest bead she has created and posted on her blog. She sells her beads on Ebay and gets a pretty penny for them too! She brings a smile to my face every day. Her whimsical designs are out of this world and her signature beads contain "birdies".

Please check her out and buy her beads! xoxo Suzanne

New Studio

I'm so exited about my new studio. Thanks to a great friend, Dave, a general contractor who heard my cry for a studio where I can create lampwork beads for all to enjoy.

Through the renovation of the garage where my dad refurbished El Camino's, I am now able to see my dream come true. Rewiring, a workbench that will hold my computer, kiln, radio, torch, the best ventilation for silver and glass working. A flameworkers dream space. Soon, I'll be creating glass beads that are destined to make you smile.
